Located at the foot of the Maiella, the Fonte Romana Beech Forest is one of the richest in fauna and flora and has an ancient history linked to the springs that gush here. In autumn, it allows us to spot numerous amphibians, such as the salamander.
We will begin the walk among the imposing and colorful beech trees, following the course of the stream that a little further downstream will give rise to the Vella River, accompanied by the gentle sound of flowing water and the noise of our steps on the carpet of leaves that covers the path. We will reach a small valley that houses some ancient shepherds' houses of the Maiella, providing us an opportunity to tell you about the agro-pastoral tradition of Abruzzo.
The valley offers wonderful views of the peaks of the Montagna Madre, the famous Passo San Leonardo, and Monte Morrone.
At the end of the activity, you can eat at the Rifugio restaurant or visit one of the nearby villages such as Pacentro or Campo di Giove.
Information
