We will begin our snowshoe hike on the Altopiano delle Cinque Miglia, a hidden corner far from the hustle and bustle of ski resorts, where the silence is broken only by the crunch of fresh, soft snow underfoot. Here, nature reveals itself in all its unspoiled beauty, with a white expanse that seems endless. Our route will lead us along snow-covered paths, among the pines and beeches of the Chiarano Sparvera State Forest, welcoming us with their silent and majestic canopy.
The initial destination of our adventure will be the small and evocative Chiesetta della Madonna del Carmine, a place of worship that stands amidst the snowy landscape, a spiritual refuge in a secluded corner of the mountain. The beauty of the place is breathtaking, with snow-capped peaks rising to protect this peaceful haven.
Continuing along the path, the itinerary becomes more fascinating and challenging: through the gorges of Montagna Spaccata, between the municipalities of Rocca Pia and Scanno, the landscape changes, alternating narrow rock formations and wide valleys. Here, the snow gathers in crevices and between boulders, creating a magical contrast with the greenery that still persists beneath the white. Each step takes us deeper into a silent world, suspended between sky and earth, where the wind grows stronger and the scenery becomes even more spectacular.
The snowshoe hike is not only a physical experience but also an inner journey, an opportunity to connect with nature, discover hidden corners, and breathe in the tranquility that only the mountain can offer. Every stretch of the route leaves you with a heart full of wonder, an indelible memory of a day where time seems to stand still, suspended in the magic of an untouched landscape.
