E-BIKE IN THE DEER VALLEY amidst Hermitages and ancient agro-pastoral villages
The Giumentina Valley is a vast valley at the foot of the Maiella, offering not only natural beauty and breathtaking panoramic views, but also preserving the remnants of civilizations that lived in perfect harmony with nature.
We will start our e-bike journey amidst unique landscapes, enjoying a 360-degree view from the mountains to the sea, and then reach the ancient village of Decontra. From there, we can admire the magnificent Orfento Valley, reminiscent of the vast landscapes of New Zealand.
After refreshing ourselves with the clear spring water flowing from mountain fountains, we will head towards the overlook of Vallone di Santo Spirito to appreciate the striking Hermitage of San Bartolomeo. Carved entirely into the rock, this was where the hermit Pietro da Morrone, later Pope Celestine V, lived.
With a bit of luck, we may spot deer and roe deer that often roam the lush woods of the valley.
The route alternates between dirt paths and paved roads.
Meeting point is scheduled 30 minutes before the start of the session.
